LESSON PACKET / SA-PROC-004

Surface treatment.
Prepare the interface.

O2 plasma and O3 ozone sit before many process steps: deposition, bonding, lithography, adhesion, and metrology. This packet keeps activation, cleaning, recovery, and damage boundaries attached.

SURFACE CHAIN

Cleanliness, activation, and damage move together.

The teaching model uses observable proxies rather than recipe settings: contact angle, organic residue, hydroxylation, oxide caution, ion exposure, and air recovery.

01 / O2 PLASMA

Activation is fast, but not free.

Oxygen plasma can remove organic residue and make surfaces more hydrophilic. The same exposure must carry a damage, charging, and recovery warning before it is reused as a process claim.

8.43 deg at 30 s / open ->
02 / O3 / UV-OZONE

Gentle cleaning still changes the surface.

Ozone and UV-ozone can reduce organic contamination and prepare surfaces for deposition or bonding. The clean result must stay paired with oxidation and material-compatibility limits.

96.3% removal proxy / open ->
03 / METROLOGY

Contact angle is a start, not a release.

A surface-treatment claim improves when contact angle, XPS/FTIR chemistry, oxide thickness, adhesion, nucleation, and aging are kept together with the sample history.

SIMULATION BUNDLE

Start from the surface condition.

Each surface-treatment object keeps Explore, Run Card, Export, Methods, Limits, and Evidence. The page is useful for paper planning without exposing tool recipes.

DATA TO COLLECT NEXT

The next upgrade needs measured, rights-clean surfaces.

The most useful next evidence is not a secret process recipe. It is a public-safe surface-state measurement with time, material, method, uncertainty, and limitations attached.

needed

Before/after water-contact-angle measurements with aging time

Store the data with sample history, measurement method, source rights, and explicit non-claims.

needed

XPS, FTIR, or ellipsometry summaries for oxygen content and oxide caution

Store the data with sample history, measurement method, source rights, and explicit non-claims.

needed

Adhesion or ALD nucleation data after treatment
